Passengers with disability

Airline companies offer free assistance for travelers with disability or any other issue that may require them to travel with a flight attendant. This would include those with temporary injury and decreased mobility. As the authorities would take time to process your request, we on our part would also take note of any physical issue that may affect your travel.

How can I travel with an attendant?

Your airline may ask you to travel with an attendant as depending upon the travel factors and your physical condition. The travel attendant will be assisting you during any emergency situation or if you fail to help yourself. Travel attendants are also required when a passenger might not be able to understand or react to the safety instructions or rush to the emergency exit in any unfortunate event. These travel attendants must be at least 18 years of age and be physically able to assist you with all your travel needs.

Wheelchair Users and Mobility Aids

It is important to notify the authorities beforehand about the mobility requirements for your wheelchair and the batteries. It is perhaps better to first acquaint yourself with the special assistance policies of the airlines for carrying wheelchairs or mobility aids. In any case, the authorities has made it incumbent upon the airlines to provide boarding, deplaning and connecting assistance to passengers with disabilities on prior request.


It is mandatory to bring along the prescriptions by a credible medical practitioner while carrying syringes or other medications. Usually, the airline companies have general medication policies for passengers that broadly underline the related terms and conditions. The medical supplies to that you would take along carry-ons must be sufficient for 2-3 days’ use and must be kept in their original packaging with legible labels. As certain medications are considered illegal in other countries, you may first contact the embassy officials of your destination country for any clarification.

Visual and Hearing Impairments

Visually impaired passengers not in a position to assist themselves are required to travel with a companion. Some airlines also offer assistance for visually impaired passengers that includes individual safety briefings and assistance during the flight. Similarly, those with hearing impairment are also required to travel with a companion. It is also important to note here that airlines do offer separate briefing to the passenger through subtitled flight safety videos to explain safety procedures.

Broken limbs

In case you are having a full leg plastered so that you may not be able to bent that part of your body, you may be required to buy two additional tickets. Further, you would be allowed to travel only if your cast has been settled. It is also important to bring along an official note by a medical practitioner certifying that you are fit to travel.
